This is the most evocative thing I've read about eau fraîche. "The sweat of sunshine" — I'll be thinking about that phrase all day. Ô de Lancôme forever!
Wonderful article! So comprehensive. In case you haven’t tried it, I have to put in a good word for Eau de Caron, which smells like a lighter version of Alpona and is still very affordable
Thank you so very much! Oh, I have Eau de Caron. I almost included it but I feel like its in a category all its own! I must admit, I have yet to smell the legendary Alpona and have been on the hunt for it for some time now.
Yes, I can see why you put it in a different category because on top of the herbal, floral, and citrusy notes, it’s a little sweet and powdery. Sounds like it should be a hot mess, but somehow it works beautifully. I have a bit of Alpona, and it really does seem like Eau de Caron is the EdT version of Alpona, which is an extrait. They both make me picture the Alps and a beautiful sweet meadow full of herbs and flowers in the sunshine.
I love this post - I wish there was more of these and more commonly created and used. They are wonderful and it surprises me that with today’s more casual fashions that people aren’t wearing them more. Great for the office, summer…they are subtle too. Would be great to a trend away from heavy complex aroma chemical fragrances to these one which are based on and have more real flower, fruit and herbal elements. Also to have them in dropper bottles to allowing you to splash them on.
Eau de Guerlain 4ever. A good ten spritzes upon still warmed skin fresh from a shower — you are set up for a good day
Absolutely!
The bottles are a delight! I feel like they all look as fresh as it sounds like they smell.
I agree. I love the way the bottle designs reflect the feel of the scents.
To me it seems like these are fragrances are just right for doctor's appointments, the gym.
Most definitely. They are not intrusive at all.
